For new lawns (turf), you need 4-6 inches (100-150mm) of topsoil. For raised vegetable beds, you might need 12-18 inches. For top-dressing an existing lawn, 1 inch is usually enough.

Freshly laid soil will settle by about 10-15% after the first few rains or waterings. We automatically add a 10% safety margin to ensure you don't run short.

Soil is incredibly heavy! A single cubic meter of dry topsoil weighs over 1.2 Tons. Knowing the weight helps you hire the right size tractor or truck.
