The 8x4 Standard
The vast majority of plywood in India is sold in 8 ft x 4 ft sheets (32 sq.ft). Always try to design your furniture to minimize off-cuts from this size.

Wastage & Grain
Plywood has a wood grain direction. Carpenters must cut the wood so the grain runs the right way for aesthetics and strength, which causes an automatic 10-15% wastage. We include a 15% cutting allowance in our calculation.

Pricing by Sq.Ft
While sold as sheets, plywood is priced per square foot. E.g., an 8x4 sheet of 18mm BWR ply at ₹90/sqft will cost exactly ₹2,880 (32 x 90) per sheet.
