The Mathematics
We calculate this by finding the volume of the solid outer cylinder and subtracting the "empty" volume of the inner cylinder.

Wall Thickness
The wall thickness is simply: (Outer Diameter - Inner Diameter) / 2. Ensure your wall is thick enough to cover any steel reinforcement mesh (usually at least 2 inches cover).

Casting Method
Hollow tubes require a sturdy inner form (mandrel) that can be collapsed or pulled out after the concrete sets. Use a release agent (shuttering oil) heavily on the inner core.
